My Summer

My summer has been great! I haven't been in one place for longer than two weeks...which is typical ME. I started out leaving Utah after packing up everything we own and I drove down to Arizona for Bryson's family reunion. We had a great time there. From Arizona, Bryson and I drove up to Colorado where we moved into my dad's basement for the summer (thanks Dad!). :) A couple of days before the 4th of July, we headed out to Nebraska to visit Nam and Nampa. We visited the zoo and did a lot of fun family things. Kaitlyn came out to Colorado for the 4th of July. After she left, 3 days later we headed back out to Utah to take Jayson to EFY and I did a TON of work in my new classroom (which I love!). I've been home about 6 days from Utah and tomorrow we are driving out to Virginia! The day after I get home from Virginia, I'm back out to Utah for good. I'll move into our new apartment and wait for Bryson to join me a few days later. What a great summer! :)

I'm not ready yet!

It didn't hit me when I was packing up the books from off the shelves.
It didn't hit me when I was doing report cards or grading the last spelling tests.
It didn't even hit me when I wrote on the last pages of my plan book.

BUT TODAY...it hit me!
It hit when I started taking down the butcher paper from the bulletin boards,
the "final" step in un-doing everything I did this last year in 2nd grade.
One staple-remover swipe at a time...gone, gone, gone.

I just stood there in my barren classroom and that's when it hit me. Hard.
Holy moley...I am going to miss these kids! What will I do without them?
I honestly could not have wished for a better group of kiddos this year!
I feel SO blessed and I am NOT ready AT ALL to let them go.
How can I possibly love another class more? :)

This year has been 120% about them.
Everything I did, I did with them in mind.
Every hour spent after school, every dollar spent out of my own pocket
was all completely worth it!

Today, Kaitlyn asked "which kids will you miss the most."
I thought, and thought...
and then I started naming off a few names...
And kept going, and going, and going.
ALL OF THEM! I will miss ALL of them the most!

sigh. Life is wonderful! :)

Deep thoughts

Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate. ~Barnett R. Brickner

THE perfect date through the eyes of a husband

Bryson said tonight, "This was THE perfect date." So what, you might ask, does Bryson consider to be the "perfect date"?

Well, it starts with a trip to In-N-Out. One #1 Double Double Animal Style and one #2 Animal Style later...you're back in the car and heading up to Salt Lake.

Next stop is the Real Salt Lake game. Of course, you can't forget to enter every single raffle possible, JUST in case. :) Also, the free stuff along the way (coupons for a free small fry from Burger King, plastic cones to shout into, and little packets of sample juices) are a necessity as well. You always feel like you are REALLY getting a good deal when you sneak down into the lower section and sit in two vacant seats that were WAY out of our price range. BUT, when it starts to rain, you smile and high five each other as you run back up to the seats (in the nose-bleed section of course) where you were supposed to sit in the first place...the seats that also happen to be COVERED.

As you leave the game, you realize how close you are to Chipotle. Stop off for a big (and by big, I mean HUGE) chicken burrito, one each. Still hungry? Don't worry, you can finish your wife's half-eaten burrito, since she never can finish anyway.

Back on the road again, you suddenly have a craving for something sweet. You remember that Maggie Moos is on the way. Naturally, you have to stop off and get bright yellow, gooey Marshmallow and bright blue, creamy Cotton Candy ice cream; one scoop of each.

And what awaits you at home? Your brand new, flat screen TV and Xbox. :)

Man, life is good on nights like these, right honey? :)

Things Really Do Work Out

I had a moment the other day when I realized that things truly do work out if you just do your part. We have had a lot of "what ifs..." lately and it was a little bit stressful to continuously be making 5 different future plans because we had no idea what would work out for us concerning jobs, internships, apartments, insurance, etc. So many times, I have been talking to Bryson, saying "I just want to KNOW what the plans are, yes or no, I just want to know." And he would calmly say, "Ash, things will work out, don't worry. Just keep working hard, and I promise things will work out." I have re-learned how wise my husband truly is. :)

We have been VERY blessed lately, VERY blessed. I am ecstatic that I will be teaching 2nd grade again next year at Taylor Elementary School in Payson!! Bryson has a great internship in Colorado Springs this summer, which puts us SO close to both families! And everything else is falling into place as well.

I feel incredibly thankful and blessed (as I have already said :) and appreciate everyone who has helped give advice, helped encourage, or helped in ANY other way! :) We love you all!! :)

muuuaaah! :) Life is FANTASTIC! :)
