April

I took a lot of pictures this month using my "big camera" and have posted a lot of them, but this is April via my iphone camera. These are all out of order because when I upload pictures from my phone to Blogger, it formats the pictures all out of order. (DRIVING me CRAZY, buuttttt oh well. Better than nothing, right?) :)
Gavin was sick a lot this month, he was NOT his normal self and just so clingy and sad and sleepy. He had a fever, so I took him into the doctor on a Saturday and sure enough he had a double ear infection. Poor kid. He was put on amoxicillin and after about 6 days of using it, he broke out in a pretty bad rash. It cleared up after about a day. Poor kid!
We did lots of playing this month, as usual.
Several trips to the zoo as OFFICIAL Oakland Zoo Members. The only way I can get Ava outta there at the end of the day is to bribe her with one ride at the park's exit. She usually choses the cars and always wants the purple car, thanks to her friend Faith's influence. :)
Nam made Ava the CUTEST shorts! I sent her a picture and a pattern and asked if it would be hard and a few days later she sent me 3 "sample" pairs. I went shopping and bought more fabric and she's in the process of making us more! HOW LUCKY ARE WE?!
My only Easter-ish picture from my phone haha. All others are in previous posts.
More zoo - Ava chose the carousel this time, which is the only ride Gavin can ride. He loves it for the first minute or two and then hates it the rest of the time haha.
More purple car at the zoo - with friends this time.
Ava's best friend, Faith. She wakes up in the morning asking to play with Faith and says "Thank you for Faith" in her nighttime prayers.
Haha, random and obvious...but I redid the blog header this month.
And yes, getting repetitive...but more zoo with more friends, Monica, Clara and Russel. We spent a lot of time there this month.
Ava's churchtime antics. :)
Ava went to a little girl's birthday party. It was Curious George themed and the kids got little monkey masks.
And cake!
And they did the parachute, which made the girl's hair so static!
We spent a lot of time with our little friends - here's Ava with her friends eating chocolate.
Ava has been skipping her naps recently - she just sits in her room reading books or playing with her toys. I can always tell when she didn't actually fall asleep because by 5:00 or 6:00, this is what happens haha.
Little Diva
Best little buds
Lots of time at the park. Ava would LIVE at the park if I let her.
Chick fila with friends on a rainy day.
Gavin "helping" me sew. Thanks, bud.
Made Ava this little dress for Ava. I was going to send this fabric to Nam for more shorts, but randomly traced one of Ava's shirts and made a dress out of the fabric instead haha.

Ughh Ava's pacifier has been my greatest obstacle as her mom haha. Sleep training, piece of cake. Potty training, a breeze. Taking away Ava's pacifier...impossible. I've tried everything. She is sooooo attached. I just have to keep trying.
Sweet little summer kids! We ended the month with a few days of 90 and 95 degree weather. I'm simultaneously excited and terrified - because our house gets sooooooo hot, it's almost unbearable haha. We'll see how the summer goes. If it's anything like last year, I honestly might throw the kids in the car and drive to Colorado by myself - no joke. Haha. We'll see how it goes.  (Also, Ava asks for her hair like this every day - two braids. Once I'm done, she holds them and goes, "I LOVE IT! Thank you Mom!")

And that's April in a nutshell, according to my iphone.
:)

Here's to a fun May!

Haircut

I gave Gavin a little haircut yesterday (using Bryson's beard trimmer and sewing scissors hahaha).

It looks fine but the point of this post is NOT to show off how "great of a hair cutter I am."
 NO no nooo-oo.
Quite the opposite, actually ha.

BUT when I was done butchering cutting his hair I "styled" it like this and I suddenly realized this little guy is NO LONGER a baby.

I still feel like he satisfies my "baby needs," if that make sense - he snuggles with me, doesn't talk, he still loves nursing. I sometimes wonder why I don't feel "baby hungry" yet - but it's because I still feel like Gavin is my baby. And let's be honest, he is still a baby in many ways - but he is also growing faster than the speed of light.

I really think the 2nd year, from 12 months to 24 months, is when babies change the most. You look at a brand new one-year old, barely toddling around, and then look at a two year old, talking in sentences, Ava knew her ABCs, could count to 10...they are suddenly little PEOPLE.

So here's to watching my baby boy become a little person.
And loving every minute of it.
