Bridal Shower

Saturday evening Sister VanWie, a really close family friend and my piano teacher growing up, threw me a bridal shower! It was SO so so nice of her to do that - and it was a lot of fun! I honestly can't believe how generous and nice people are - especially when it comes to weddings! We are so grateful for all the helpfulness and kindness everyone had shown! At the bridal shower, we ate great food, played one game about famous couples and opened presents. It was great to see many people from my wards growing up! Now I just can't wait to see them again at the wedding!

Me and Maddie laughing because we knew what was in that little box...:-)

The huge pile of presents.

Me, Karrilynn, Maddie and Lisa

One of our favorite gifts was from Bryson's mom, Lisa. We are "inheriting" an old couch from the Websters, so when we were registering we got so excited about the idea of getting a couch cover. So we picked out a really cool one and awesome pillows to go with it and pretty much centered our whole apartment decorations around the couch cover haha. AND we got it!! I came right home from the shower and put it on the couch! The original couch looks like those pillows - those are NOT the "awesome" pillows we picked out. Haha...it looks amazing! Now we are ready to move into our cute little apartment in July!

Some other great things we got were games (which I have already started playing with Kait haha), stuff for our kitchen, baking stones to make pizza, a food chopper, recipie books and an "advice book" from all the ladies who came...and of course some fun stuff for our honeymoon, if you know what I mean. Thank you so much to everyone who came and especially to Sister Vanwie for the great shower! :-)

And in case you forgot....We're getting married in 12 days!!!!

Take Me Home...Country Road!

Bryson and I packed up ALL our stuff Thursday morning, crammed it all into every nook and crany in my little Jetta, and drove on out of p-town home to Colorado. Of course, our trip wasn't uneventful and we ended up driving about 30 miles south of the exit off I-15 to Price haha, but finally we realized we had driven way too far and turned around. The rest of the trip luckily was easy - Bryson, being the sweet sweet fiance that he is, drove longer than I did. Some might even say MUCH longer. :-) Anyway, we got home around 7 and as we drove into Colorado Springs, we realized how much we LOVE Colorado. Sorry to all you Utahns, but WE think Colorado is so much prettier! It may just be loyalty, but it really is SO beautiful here!

I'm so glad to be home with my fan-damily! I love them oh so much :-). Today I went to Kait to get her signed up for classess at PPCC and then we picked up Jayson to go try on tuxes for the wedding. Ow ow all those boys were lookin mighty fine! :-) I am so lucky to have the best "in-laws" in the world! I love them!! I'm so excited for Brad, he was able to go to the temple today! I can't believe he is old enough to be a missionary! Bryson said the temple grounds are gorgeous - just in time for us to get married in 2 weeks! :-)

Anyway, Kait and I are 100% doing "The Biggest Loser" our style haha. No really though, tomorrow morning...YMCA...8:30am...BE THERE!! We'll be looking for you!

Debut

So this i guess this is my blogging debut. I can hardly believe that Ashley and I are getting married in two and a half weeks. Just a few days ago i was calling a few of my converts and other families in Long Beach and both commented on the weddding invitations that they had received. Well, they did not really comment on the invitation but more on my bride to be. The word that Hernmana Lopez used was "guapisima" haha. I definitely agree :-). On the other hand i was described as being a little more "cachetoncito" or in other words a little more full in the cheeks, haha. I just like to think that i give all mediocre looking guys hope in finding a beautiful wife ;-). Today we got to see our bridal pictures and i think they look great. Ashley looks beautiful in her dress and we are really happy with how the pictures look. It was a strange feeling driving to go take our pictures, it felt like we were driving to the temple to get married, it was a tease. Well we will post our bridal pictures as soon as we have them. I LOVE ASHLEY!

Bridals

Yesterday, we went to Thanksgiving Point and took our bridal pictures. Bryson looked smokin in his tux! My bouquet was exactly what I wanted - roses and green hydrangeas. I'm nervous to see how they turned out - but excited! It was a weird feelng, as Bryson and I, all dressed up, were driving to get the pictures taken...like, "Wait a second...we're getting MARRIED!" We kept saying "Exactly 3 weeks from right now, we'll be driving to Denver," or "3 weeks from right now, we will be in the temple." 3 weeks, people! 3 weeks!
We took pictures for a couple hours and then went to a great mexican restaurant, Diego's Taco Shop. I figured that since I don't have to fit into my wedding dress again for another 3 weeks I could afford one splurge day haha SO I got a huge, fatty Carne Asada Burrito AND chips and salsa! SO good! I could go for that again right about now...Delicious!

Later, we got Smart Cookie! If you didn't know, it is going OUT OF BUSINESS this month! So sad!

And in case you forgot, my fiance is amazing, wonderful, funny, smart, and SO good to look at!

The end.

This is by Bryson...

So i was going to write about the engagement and all but as i was writing i peeked at Ashley's blog and noticed that she beat me to it, so i will just post the link to her blog so that you can read it there. She is much more eloquent than i am. You might notice that her blog is titled, "Bryson and Ashley's blog." I am totally okay with the idea of a blog that we share, i mean i LOVE her, but i don't know how i feel about having my name attached to blog where the text background is pink....I think if couples are going to have blogs then they need to use gender neutral colors. Am i not right? Anyways, i am pumped, less than three months away. After all of the chaos of finding the ring i am glad that she finally has one that she loves on her finger.

It's the Final Countdown...

Today was my LAST day of class . . . e v e r!

2 Study Days, 6 Finals to go

Then I'm done at BYU forever!

And more importantly...
24 more days until we get married!
The other day I sang Bryson my song from girls camp to the tune of "Goin to the Chapel" . . .
"Beeecaaasuuse weeee're . . .
goin' to the temple with my returned missionary.
Goin' to the temple and we're gonna get married!
Gee I really love him
and we're
Gonna get married -
Sealed for time eternally!"

I think it is clever...he did not agree. Aparently, there are too many syllables. Way to ruin a girl's childhood dreams. :-)

My Version of "OUR" Story..

Pictures from over the years...

Those were all from our senior year of high school I think...

Ashley's Version of "Us"...

We were both 14 at a church dance the first time we met. Bryson had yellow bleached blonde hair and I was, well...in an awkward middle school stage at its finest. We became friends and even took the step to get each other's AIM screen names. We were in different stakes, different schools...our lives never overlapped unless it was at a church dance.
~
Eventually, when we were both 16, Bryson asked me out. I remember our first date clearly - we went to see Duplex with two of our friends. Bryson thought I was flirting with the other guy the whole time...but I wasn't...at least I wasn't doing it on purpose. I remember going home that night thinking I was so "in like" with that little 14-year old boy from the church dance. Kaitlyn even got out my "LIST" that all girls make in Young Womens - the list of your "perfect guy." I remember Bryson fit every bullet point, and he even wanted to possibly be a dentist (not anymore, which is fine with me - way too much schooling :-). We giggled and thought that he could be the "one." IF only we had known.
~
From that date on, we were inseperable. All of our friends eventually stopped calling because they knew we would already be busy with each other. It took 3 months until either of us got up the courage to have our first kiss...even though I guess Bryson went in for the "almost kill" a couple times (so I guess I was the nervous one haha). All through high school, Bryson proved to be the perfect boyfriend...he would leave me notes or flowers on my car during seminary, he would bring me Jamba Juice on Saturday mornings, he always did amazing things for my birthdays and holidays. I remember going to all his varsity soccer games wearing a shirt that said "Goal Bryson, Goal!" We went to homecomings and proms together, we took the ACT together, graduated from high school on the same day, applied to college together, and then waited for our acceptance letters together.
~
We were both accepted to BYU to start the fall of 2005. That August, we caravaned out to Utah and started our freshman year at BYU living at Helaman Halls - I was in Chipman and he was in Merril. That year, we were not offcially boyfriend/girlfriend - mostly becuase we knew he was leaving on his mission in a few months. But we still did a lot together - went to football games, went on dates to Costa Vida and the bowling alley, and even took a random trip home on the Greyhound to surprise my family. I would always encourage him to go on dates with other girls, but he would always assure me, "You are the only girl I want to spend my time with." He would constantly remind me, "Ash, I just want you to know without a question that I love you so much - that when I'm gone you have no reason to second guess my love for you." He probably does not remember saying this - but this statement stuck in my head for the next two years. We finished up that year and headed back to Colorado together for the summer.
~
In May Bryson got his mission call to Long Beach, California. I was SO unbeliveably excited for him and I knew without a doubt that he would be the best missionary! I had applied to BYU-Hawaii and was headed out there to do my sophomore year of college. The day that he left in August to go into the MTC is one that I will never forget - mostly because I made a fool of myself. I thought I could hold myself together - I had known from the moment I met him, everyday for those last 3 years I had KNOWN this day would come, but I still wasn't ready to let him go. I had seen him almost every day for the last 3 years, he was my #1 best friend - and I knew I would miss him so much. Needless to say, I cried. Now when I say "I cried," I don't mean like a sweet little tear running down my cheek - no, nooo...I mean a full on body-shaking sob. Actually, it was me AND his little sister, Maddy - she was my crying buddy that day - remember Maddy? :-) Anway, he walked me to my car to say goodbye and at that point he was already set apart, so he couldn't come within feet of me. We just stood there, me crying and him (well I don't know what he was doing haha - probably holding back from laughing haha)...and his dad yells from across the coldesac - "You can give her a hug." So, one last, big bear hug and he was off.
~
And he WAS a great, no AMAZING missionary. And he contined to prove his love - not one week went by without a 2-page letter from Elder Webster.
~
In the mean time, I was in Hawaii living the dream, came back to Provo, started the Elementary Education program and ... waited. Or, kind of waited. I dated through those 2 years, but (even ask my cousin and best friend Karley) no one even came close to Bryson. He was "Unforgettable."
~
SO, two years went by and he came home in August 2008. Things were weird and a little rocky at first - both of us were nervous and needed to make sure we were 100% before jumping into things. Before he got home people were predicting a "December wedding," so we had to keep reminding ourselves - no pressure! :-) For a while, it seemed that when I was ready, he wasn't, and when he was ready, I wasn't - we could never seem to get on the same page. Finally, we, or acutally after Bryson's eventual "ultimatium" to us both, decided that it doesn't get much better than this and, well, here we are! :-)
~
I am IN LOVE with this amazing, talented, smart, funny, hard-working, kind, caring, optimistic, positive, happy, incredible, spiritual, honest, faithful....and GOOD LOOKING :-) .... man! He is the love of my life and I am the luckiest girl in the world to get to marry him and be his wifey! He will be an amazing husband and father!
loveeeeeeeeeeeee you!!! :-)
